Welcome to the Butlerstown Community

Although a mere half mile from the main Waterford to Cork road (watch for the sign for Butlerstown Church on the N.25) here tranquility is guaranteed. In the vicinity country walks abound, with the Megalithic Knockeen and Gaulstown Dolmens a short distance away and the banks of the gentle River Suir just two miles to the north east. The parish is bounded on the South by the Tramore parish with a major stream flowing from Carrigavantry Lake to Waterford City eventually joining Johns River at Kilbarry. The Northern boundary is flanked by the lordly River Suir commencing at Mt Congreve continuing on to the townland of Knockhouse. The Eastern boundary extends from Knockhouse to Kilbarry and on to the Dolmen site at Knockeen. The Western boundary adjoins the parish of Ballyduff and ends at The Sweep. The population of the parish is approx. one thousand people the majority of whom resides in out of town houses built onto sites acquired from the landowners. There are some very progressive dairy farmers interspersed with tillage and dry stock farms. A number of small businesses have sprung up in recent times helped by the proximity of Waterford City. The proposed construction of the N25 auto route on the North side of the parish will effect major changes in the road structure in the parish and will be of advantage to the whole area.
